By Geraldine Jozefiak How you choose and use your glass paints can make all the difference to your projects. It’s wise to know the pros and cons of paint options before you make a purchase. There are many manufacturers out there selling their products through retailers and online stores, but essentially there are only 2 types of paint. First though, be clear that whilst you may choose to use glass paint on ceramics, ceramic paint is opaque and will not give you the clear transparent look you may be after. Some ceramic paints also need to be set in the oven, and this could bring up some health and safety issues if you are working in groups. Once you’ve decided on the type of paint you are going to use you can select the carrier: water-based or methyalted-based. There are pros and cons to both and the final decision really rests of the resulting look you are after. Water based paint is widely used in schools and with groups as it is more easily washed off hands and clothing, and doesnt give off fumes. The water based paints can be easily mixed on a plate to get the right colour tone, though of course, you can’t ‘make’ white or black. Water based paint flows differently from methylated-based paint, and, is in my opinion, rather thin. That means that you will need a lot of paint to get the depth of colour you might be after. The problem with this is that as glass paints dry quickly, any extra layer of colour that you add, will look just that: additional, and it will be possible to see where you have added it. The resulting colour area will not be uniform as it would if you were to use methylated paints. Methylated-based paint, on the other hand is vibrant and rich in colour. Again, the colours can be mixed on a plate to suit your purposes. This paint however has 2 big considerations: 1. it is not easily washable (use meths. To remove any spillages) 2. it gives off fumes. It’s important when using these paints to ensure adequate ventilation by working with an open window. As an extra precautions I always keep the tops on the bottles for as long as possible. Your paint brushes will need to be washed in meths too rather than water. I decant fresh meths into an individual serving jam jar + lid. Don’;t worry if the colour changes as you clean your brush. The meths is still effective as a cleaning agent. Just make sure the brush is wiped off on kitchen paper before inserting back into a new colour. You can build up a deep colour with this paint by loading your brush and pushing, rather than brushing the paint between your outlines. Brushing out too small an amount of paint can leave ‘thin areas’ on our glass, mirror or acetate. If this dries, before you have seen it, again, this paint is more forgiving, allowing you to add another layer of paint to increase the vibrancy/depth of colour. If you can, push the paint to lie within your outline like a raised (convex) mound. When it dries the colour will be fuller than if you had brushed out the colour. This is one of those crafts where being generous with the materials will make a difference to the result. Do though weigh up the fumes factor and be aware of any susceptible indivduals who may be prone to asthma or bronchial difficulties. If possible I try to do my painting sessions in a little used room, and better still, confine these activities to the afternoon, allowing any fumes to dissipate overnight. At the end of the day, the choice is yours and hands-on use with a variety of products will help you make the decision right for you. By Justin Meyer Before you proceed with this step, decide if you need to tell them. While you are coming to grips with the idea that there is nothing wrong with being depressed, not everybody is as open-minded. Decide what your motivation is for telling them and then, if it makes sense to do so, proceed with your plan. The best way to tell them is to decide who you need to tell and when. Also decide who will be the most supportive, these are the people to tell first. Explain to them how you have been feeling and how you are working to get better. By showing that you are making progress, you can reassure them and yourself that you are not on a downward spiral. The next thing to do is decide how to tell the less supportive members of your family. You want to do two things here. The first is to discuss with your therapist what the best way to talk to your family is. Would it be a group session? Would it be somewhere neutral, such as a restaurant? The second is to make sure that the family member or members who know and are supportive will be present. To tell them, make sure you start by stressing the normalcy of the condition, and you might want to tell them that it was not caused by them. It’s a process that can be compared to coming out of the closet, and you would want to make sure that in telling them, you are not harming yourself. The important thing is to remember that if nothing positive can come from telling them, then it is not worth it to do so yet. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Sissons]Peter Sissons Payday advance are the short-term loans, which are convenient and quick way to fulfill the needs of between any two paydays. These loans are termed as payday advance because they are often repaid after one receives the next paycheck or benefit checks. These short-term loans may vary from 10-45 days of duration. For applying for payday advance we need to provide some basic information like source of income, name, address, contact numbers, etc. no credit check is required for applying for any payday advance. After an hour of applying one receives a message regarding approval or disapproval. They give these details after reviewing the information given by the customer. Once the loan is approved the payday advance loans are directly transferred in the checking account. The most convenient thing about payday advance is that they can be availed anytime anywhere. This also helps in getting good credit history as none of these loans come in transaction history. There should be no check returns for any payday advance loans and no negative balance accounts. If any of these options come into the transactions then bad credit history is reported to the customers account. Payday advance loans meet the short-term financial but they are definitely no substitute for financial planning. Payday advance can be taken online also, which are very fast. These online facilities are applicable to only those who are above 18 years of age and have steady income with a checking account. Payday advance loans make the transactions very simple and hassle free. The payday advance specialists are available 24 hours a day for their services anywhere. For any amount ranging from $100 to $500 they are always ready with their service. Many moneylenders have come forward for giving away their service. One should keep that in mind that the payday advance is a part of emergencies only. They should not be kept in practice to take every time. One should borrow only when it is required and can be easily paid back. This saves lot of money and interest in the long run. The interest rates charged are very high for the payday advance. Therefore one should always find out the company report for all these companies before availing any payday advance. More over one should also always check out for any hidden charges before availing any payday advance. Before availing any payday advance one should also check for budget planning. Payday advance should be spent on necessities and not on luxuries. Loans such as payday advance attract heavy interest charges therefore these should be taken up in case of any dire necessities. Such advances taken for any daily expenses make living very expensive. Thus one should avoid small expenses and loans against such expenses. Moreover, any check returns on such small loans also report bad credit history and can ruin credit rating for any individual. A good budgeted and planned expenditure can save anyone from any sort of loans such as payday advance. By Matthew Peschong Be sure to train your employees to provide the utmost care after a customer has made a purchasing decision. After a customer makes a purchase we call their emotions the maximum satisfaction time gap. During this time, reinforce the benefits of your product or service. This is because psychology tells us these customers are more likely to tell their friends (give referrals) about your products or services right after they make the decisions. Day by day the satisfaction will dwindle. Telling customers before and during their purchase the benefits can only last a few days. During those few days they might not find the time to tell others. Give them a brochure, catalog, or membership benefits packet. It has to be flashy and not simply a white piece of paper with words on it. This could easily become the gum on the bottom of the waste paper basket if you do not put in the additional customer service after the customer leaves the store. Considering 75% of the U.S. population spends an average of 10 hours per week online, a web site is necessary for your customers to take your store, services, products, and the experience with them. But that 25% gap needs to be filled. Thats why I advise to provide a small but flashy tri-fold brochure (instead of a 50 page catalog) with every purchase. Place the brochure in the customers bag after giving them a little information on what it is. Include a cut out coupon (they are beneficial in this context) in the brochure. The customer is less likely to throw away the brochure then. They are also more likely to read the rest of the brochure as they skim the coupon and more likely to make it a part of their referrals. Later this week I will show you how to turn your business card into a valuable business tool in highly competitive markets. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva]Thomas Morva International long distance calls have become very affordable. However, choosing a long distance carrier is not an easy job. While you are choosing your long distance carrier, always remember that there are multiple companies ready to lure customers with attractive and so called beneficial tariff plans. Most of them offer great benefits, but some are dishonest. Long distance carrier rates vary dramatically based on where you are calling. The process of making an international long distance call may vary from country to country, and from city to city within a country. There are generally two ways to make international calls: dial directly or use an operator. You should always remember that operator-assisted calls are generally more expensive than calls dialed directly. Long distance calls are generally billed by the minute. Apart from looking at the tariff plan, you also need to check if there are any hidden charges applicable. Lot of companies offer great call charges but have heavy hidden costs. These companies offer monthly plans with unlimited calling for a flat monthly fee. In addition to basic rates, telephone companies offer a variety of other ways to pay for international calls. The plan that you choose should fit in best to your usage. You can also use phone cards or any other plan. Calling plans, prepaid cards, dial-around, and callback services often offer rates that are lower than a company?s basic rates. While choosing a carrier, you should compare features like day or night charges, and weekend or weekday rates. Also, is there any minimum call length, what is the connection fee and what is the range for monthly fees? Long distance carriers can be very cost-effective if you choose the right plan. By John Allen Mollenhauer Moderation in everything is used to end nutritional discussions before they begin, as if it were a universal law. And in most areas of life, it is pretty good advice. But when it comes to what you put into your body, it is a huge diet trap. Some substances are harmful, even when taken in moderation. In fact, there are substances and foods of which even a miniscule portion can kill you arsenic, for example. Of course, this is an extreme example, but it demonstrates immediately and emphatically the inaccuracy of the phrase. This trap is particularly effective at snaring the unwary eater because iti s regularly passed off as a principle. Moderation in everything is not a principle. This phrase is an untruth (what my mom would call a LIE). It is a rationalization promoted by people who have a vested interest in maintaining the nutritional status quo and our addictions to junk foods. When you eat everything in moderation, you may experience a number of negative consequences being overweight is just the most immediately visible. Heres what Nutrient Rich expert advisors Alan Goldhamer, D.C. and Doug Lisle Ph.D. write in their landmark book, The Pleasure Trap: A little bit of coffee is only a little bit toxic and results in only a little bit of increased blood pressure, and thus is responsible for only a little bit of an increase in stroke probability. A little bit of refined flour is likely to be the cause of only a little bit of excess body fat, and is therefore only a little bit aesthetically displeasing, and is only associated with a little bit of an increase in all-cause mortality. A little bit of alcohol only kills a little bit of the brain with each use, only slightly reducing cognitive capacities, and results in only a small increased risk of death from liver disease or hemorrhagic stroke. You dont need to be some sort of idealist when it comes to food and drink. There will be plenty of times when you will eat some small amounts of nutrient poor food, and enjoy it thoroughly! Dont sweat the small stuff. Dont major in minor things, as my former colleague Tony Robbins says. Instead, focus on eating a diet that is 80-90% nutrient rich. Consume nutrient poor foods as the exception, not the rule. If youre eating 50-60%, 60-70%, 70-80% nutrient rich, that is all good for you too. What you will realize is that the more nutrient rich you eat the more nutrient rich you will want to eat, because over time, youll want more of good thing, and only want to eat first class foods. Unfortunately, here is how we interpret everything in moderation: Its OK if I eat pastry, muffins, bagels, Pepsi and drink coffee all day. Ill just make some attempt to have a salad later to get my vitamins. Who doesnt know this trick? Your mind remembers the last thing you ate and the vegetable chaser makes you feel better as if your body doesnt still have to deal with the pastry. When you make these everything in moderation decisions over and over each day, your diet basically consists of junk food. Of course, moderation in everything is a central tenet of Four Food Groups and Food Pyramid nutrition training and the food marketing practices in which almost all of us have been immersed since kindergarten, or even preschool. This principle, packaged into the Four Food Groups, is still the basis of how schools are training our children today, and it continues to form the basis of what most Americans believe about nutrition. And this is so, despite the fact that thousands of studies have shown that consumption of a balanced diet based on the Four Food Groups will do nothing for you, except make you fat and more likely to die of heart disease, cancer or stroke. Moderation in Everything (often called a balanced diet) is not a successful way for you to eat if you arent striving for extra weight, disease or early death. Half of the people who die in America this year will die of a heart attack or stroke. Most of them would not be on this Preparing to Terminate list if they werent basing their diets on the faulty wisdom of the everything in moderation trap. By Darrell Feltmate The turning of wood has an old history both in the realm of utilitarian work and in highly decorative art pieces. In ancient Egypt bowls were turned out for pharaoh and commoner. Later the kings of Europe would possess fancy ornamental lathes to turn out highly ornamental boxes and jars of great beauty. Yet a turner is largely restricted in his or her output. Lathes make things round. Already the design considerations are tightened. Straight lines are possible but only as a v groove on the side of a piece or the side of a tube. In fact, all lathe cuts are either a bead, a cove or a straight line. Any other decorative cut is a collection of these three. So what is a person to do to find their own voice in the art and craft of wood turning? The first step is the same one that every artist needs to take to establish personal credibility, learn the craft. Read books and articles, study videos, get lessons and above all practice, practice, practice. Just about best thing you can do for your turning craft is to get some free or almost free wood and turn it to shavings. I like to use firewood and landfill trees for practice not to mention some fine turning. Once the skills are achieved as far as tool technique is concerned, you still need to develop some others. One is an eye for line, curve and form. This extends somewhat beyond the needs of a painter and into the realm of sculptors and carvers. On the lathe we draw in three dimensions. However, in a very real sense we do draw. Do not neglect the painters and all they can promise us. In order to get a good look at the forms for which we strive it is necessary to examine the silhouette of a piece and look at the line which is formed. Is it a fair curve or is there a disruption in the line of flow? Is the disruption accidental or purposeful? If accidental is it good or bad? Does it lead to better design or does it need correction? If on purpose the same questions of good and bad arise and need to be dealt with. One of the aspects of the painters craft that is often ignored by the turner of wood is that of color. Ignoring the world of segmented turning with its myriad choices of design with colored woods, or for that matter ignoring coloring or painting the piece after turning, each piece of wood has its own characteristic color and grain. Characteristic colors are simply that, characteristic. They may determine whether the piece would best be turned in a style that gives an impression of heaviness of lightness. The grain of the wood, on the other hand, is the pallet of the piece. A subtle change in orientation may be needed to best display the nature of the piece. Lights and darks exist in many variations in most pieces of wood, particularly the prettier ones that turners tend to prefer. As one turner has said, life is too short to turn ugly wood. Carvers and sculptors have a lot to teach us in dealing with form. Look for balance from one section to another. How does the top of a piece lend lightness or weight to the base? Do they fit together? How much does the appearance of the piece change if it is looked upon from above instead of from below, the front or either side? Does the piece still work from different perspectives? Look at massive pieces and frame them with your fingers or take a photo without surrounding images that lend a perspective of size. Does the massive piece still present itself well as a small piece and vice versa? Why or why not? Can you translate your findings to the lathe? Perhaps the greatest craftsmen and artists that speak to our craft are the workers in pottery and ceramics. After all, if you rotate a lathe ninety degrees to the left and put a platter on the headstock, you end up with a potters wheel. As another turner has said, the potters and ceramics makers were imitating me two thousand years before I was born. Yet even the common bowl had a history of art, whether found in the Ming Dynasty or the great punch bowl of the British Crown Jewels. Artists have managed with delicacy of line fully integrated with the colors of the woods used, to develop a unique style with which to capture an essence of bowl. With due consideration for what has gone before and respect for artistic traditions, it is possible to develop ones own artistic voice and turn a fine art piece in wood. Darrell Feltmate is a juried woodturner whose web site contains detailed information about woodturning for the novice or experienced turner as well as a collection of turnings for your viewing pleasure. http://aroundthewoods.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Darrell_Feltmate http://EzineArticles.com/?Woodturning-Design:-Where-Can-the-Turners-of-Today-Find-a-Voice-of-Their-Own?&id=282414 no credit check cell phone personal loans philippines direct payday lenders last chance second chance payday loan all approved

By Tamika Johnson What? You say. No Saturday dates after Wednesday? What is this 1952? Well no its not, it is 2005 and sometimes old dating rules still apply to later times. Why does it matter you ask? As long as hes asking you out then it shouldnt matter. If hes asking you out that means hes interested, who cares if he calls you Friday afternoon for a Friday night day. Right? Wrong. It does matter when hes asking you out. And this is why: People value their weekends. In a world where people can easily clock sixty hour weeks the time they have off is precious and important to them. People want to enjoy their weekends, so most people tend to plan their weekends in advance. They like to know what they are doing and who they are spending their time with. So if a guy is calling you Friday afternoon for a Friday night date then it probably means whatever other plans he had fell through and youre his plan B. And I dont know about you but I dont want to be anyones plan B. Still dont believe me? Look at it from this point of view: You teach people how to treat you (a theme you will here me repeat time and time again). And by accepting a last minute date from someone, youre sending the message that not only is your time not valuable, because they can call you anytime and youll be free, but that youll drop whatever youre doing to be with them. Even if you didnt have any plans, you dont want to send the message that youre available whenever they feel like calling to ask you out. The bottom line is when a guy is really interested in a woman hes going to make plans with her early in the week because if he doesn’t, hell be afraid she will make plans with someone else. So like I said, if youre getting that weekend phone call for a date, then you werent his first choice. And no one ever wants to be second. By Doug Green It seems that there are always questions this time of year about winterizing plastic ponds. To begin with, clean out all the gunk (composed of fish and plant waste) at the bottom of the pond. Specialist garden catalogues have a little gizmo that attaches to a hose and when the hose is run, the gizmo acts like a vacuum cleaner, sucking debris from the bottom of the pond. Or, more simply move your pond pump to the pond bottom and direct the output to the ground and not the filter. If you dont remove the plant debris, it will continue to decompose. Decomposition uses oxygen as one of its primary fuels and this means that oxygen will be taken from the water to fuel plant decomposition. If there is an ice-layer over the pond, and there will be shortly, the water will not be able to replace that oxygen and the pond will go into an anaerobic (without oxygen) state under the ice. Now, youve never quite smelled something until youve taken a whiff of a pond thats in that state. It is basically your very own backyard sewage system. Aside from getting rid of the smell, the reason you remove the bottom layers of material is so any fish youre leaving in the pond will have enough oxygen to survive the winter. And survive they will as long as you stop feeding them when the water gets cold the water (at less than 50F) is really too cold for them to feed and any food will simply rot. The fish will survive as long as the water doesnt freeze solidly to the bottom of the pond. If the pond is three to four feet deep, it will not freeze and your fish will be fine. Shallower ponds will either have to have a bubbler, a pump left running to keep an open area open or the fish removed to an aquarium for the winter. But start with removing the gunk.
